Kitchen windows collect grease, steam, and splash, usually sit above a sink where you cannot easily reach them, and are often an odd size next to a run of cabinets. The treatment has to survive all three.
It also has to look like part of the kitchen rather than an afterthought, which is why this is one of the rooms where custom sizing shows most plainly.

These are the treatments we specify most often here, and why — not a catalogue, just what holds up.
Wood and faux-wood blinds
A Hunter Douglas Parkland wood blind sets the tone of a kitchen the way little else does, in white, grey, and neutral stains. Over a sink, we usually specify faux-wood instead so it can be wiped down.
Custom roman shades over the sink
The most-requested kitchen treatment we make. You pick the fabric, and we size it to the opening so it clears the faucet and the backsplash rather than fighting them.
Plantation shutters
Excellent on a kitchen window that takes hard afternoon sun, because you can angle the louvers to kill glare without losing the whole view. They also wipe clean, which matters here.
Woven woods with a liner
Adds warmth and texture against hard cabinetry and stone. Add a privacy liner if the window faces a neighbour.
