Ultrasonic blind & shade cleaning.
The dust lives inside the cells, not on the surface. Ultrasonic cleaning is the only method that gets it out without taking the treatment apart.
Why Ultrasonic
You cannot vacuum a honeycomb clean
Cellular shades work because they are full of sealed air pockets. That is also why they collect dust you can never quite get at — and why a feather duster or a vacuum attachment only ever moves the surface layer around.
Ultrasonic cleaning solves it differently. Instead of wiping the treatment, we submerge it and let high-frequency sound do the work. The result is a shade that looks close to new, with none of the creasing, shrinkage, or fabric damage that comes from washing, scrubbing, or ordinary dry cleaning.
We have been doing this since long before it was fashionable, and we do it for treatments we never sold. If yours came from somewhere else, that is fine.
What We Clean
Hard treatments, soft treatments, and the furniture too
If it hangs in a window or sits in your living room, our workroom has almost certainly cleaned one.
Cellular & pleated shades
The honeycomb pockets trap dust that vacuuming never reaches. Ultrasonic cleaning flushes them from the inside out.
Wood, faux-wood & vertical blinds
Slat-by-slat wiping takes hours and leaves streaks. The tank does the whole stack evenly.
Sheers, shadings & woven woods
Delicate fabrics that cannot survive a washing machine come out clean and undistorted.
Roman & roller shades
Kitchen grease, nicotine, and pet dander lift out without breaking down the backing.
Draperies & valances
Cleaned professionally without the shrinking, puckering, or lost pleat that dry cleaning risks.
Upholstered furniture
One chair or a whole house. Handled by the same workroom that does our reupholstery.
The Process
How the cleaning actually works
We take them down
Our installers remove the treatments, tag every one to its window, and transport them. Nothing gets mixed up and nothing gets returned to the wrong opening.
Into the ultrasonic tank
High-frequency sound waves pass through a gentle solution, creating microscopic bubbles that collapse against every surface of the treatment. That action reaches into cells, folds, and cords that no cloth can get to — without scrubbing, bending, or abrading the fabric.
Rinse, dry, inspect
Everything is rinsed, dried flat, and inspected. If we find a worn cord or a failing mechanism while it is out of the window, we tell you before we rehang it.
We rehang them
Back on the brackets, levelled and tested. The take-down and rehang is part of the service, not an extra you arrange yourself.
Also Worth Knowing
Cleaning pairs well with repair
While your treatments are down and out of the window, it is the cheapest possible moment to replace a tired cord or a failing motor. We check every treatment as it comes out of the tank and tell you what we found.
Questions
Cleaning FAQ
No. We clean window treatments regardless of where they came from or how old they are. Plenty of this work is on treatments we did not sell.
For most Long Island homes, every three to five years. Sooner if you are near the water, cook a lot, have pets, or someone in the house has allergies. Kitchens and bathrooms are almost always the first rooms that need it.
That is the reason to use it. There is no scrubbing and no agitation — the cleaning is done by the bubbles, not by force. It is gentler on sheers, silks, and woven woods than any hand method.
No, and we will say so up front. Ultrasonic cleaning removes dirt, grease, smoke, and dust. It cannot reverse UV fading or bleaching, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than take the job and disappoint you.
Usually a few days from take-down to rehang, depending on how many treatments and how heavily soiled they are. We will give you a firm window when we schedule.
On quality treatments, almost always — cleaning is a fraction of replacement cost and can add years. On inexpensive big-box blinds, often not, and we will tell you that too.
